Liminal Films
"Liminal" (adj.):
Relating to a transitional or initial stage of a process.
Liminal space is a part of a three-fold sequential structure as coined by Arnold Van Gennep in his Rites de Passage. The three-fold sequence consists of the death of the old, the Liminal space, and the birth of the new. I found this most beautiful in that a wedding ceremony is a perfect symbol of this concept. The couple is in a transitional space on that day, finding themselves no longer just individuals but waiting to begin life as a couple. It is this concept that directly inspired the birth of Liminal Films.
